I grew up by the beach on Anglesey in North Wales, surrounded by open skies, animals (mainly sheep!). Being close to nature has always stayed with me. I find it calming, grounding, and it naturally taught me to slow down and appreciate small things.
I moved away for university and began working as a graphic designer. I loved being creative and have always been drawn to how things look and feel, but over time I realised the fast pace of corporate life wasn’t for me. I missed working with my hands, taking my time, and making things simply because I enjoyed the process.
I’ve always loved scent and experimenting, especially when it comes to making my home feel warm and cosy. Lighting a candle has always felt like a small ritual to me. It’s a moment to pause, relax, and feel properly at home. That feeling of connection is what first drew me to candle making.
The process itself is what keeps me coming back to it. Making candles feels mindful and unhurried. Blending scents, pouring each one by hand, and watching them take shape gives me a sense of calm that I look for more of in everyday life. It’s my way of slowing down in a world that often feels too fast.
That’s also why I choose to work with natural soy wax and keep things as simple and considered as possible. Hygge Room is about creating candles that bring comfort, warmth, and a sense of ease into your home. A reminder to slow down, enjoy the moment, and appreciate the quiet rituals that make everyday life feel better.
