Now it’s February, and things feel a little lighter. Not dramatically different, just enough of a shift to notice.
January was a quiet month for me. I didn’t set any resolutions or make big plans. I mostly used the time to pause and take stock. What felt good last year, what I want to keep, and what I’m happy to let go of. January always feels like a month where very little is expected, and I quite like that.
Most days recently have been made up of simple things. Walks across muddy fields, with low winter light in the afternoons. The kind of walks where nothing much happens, but you come home feeling better for having gone out. There are small signs of change starting to appear too. Snowdrops coming through and the occasional glimpse of wildlife along the edges of the fields. It still very much feels like winter, just with a sense that things are slowly moving on.
The dogs have been with me for all of it. Muddy paws, damp coats, and all.
The rest of the days have been slower and mostly at home. Baking, tea on repeat, and more cake than usual. Comfort felt important, especially on grey days when the weather didn’t offer much incentive to do anything else. I’ve liked the lack of pressure. No need to be productive in a way that needs explaining. Just time at home.
Alongside all of that, I’ve been quietly working on Hygge Room. Testing new scent ideas and not rushing anything before it feels ready. I’ve also been booking markets for the year ahead and working on this website in the background. I wanted a space that feels a bit more personal, somewhere I can share more than just finished products.
This journal is part of that. A place for small updates, everyday moments, and notes on work and life along the way.
February feels like a gentle in-between month. Still winter, but with a bit more energy starting to creep in.
Thanks for being here.
